This amazing Hospital Birth Story unfolded after one of my oldest friends told me she was giving birth at Mediclinic Stellenbosch. The hospital just announced that they were opening their doors to Birth Photographers a week before my friend contacted me. The hospitals were closed to birth photographers due to their strict Covid-19 hospital safety regulations.
I jumped at the opportunity to document this momentous event in my friends life. I immediately offered her my birth photography services. She obtained the necessary consent to ensure the hospital allows me in on the day of the birth and then we waited patiently for baby Marais’s arrival. Even though she had her heart set on a natural vaginal delivery the Lord had other plans and she was booked for a cesarean section early on a Monday morning. Everyone was packed and ready to go and all went according to plan.
